Representatives of the world's leading news agencies debated the protection of journalists, cybersecurity and the future of the media industry at the MINDS conference in Athens on April 23-25, 2025. The meeting was attended by 109 delegates from 27 member agencies.
One of the main topics was the role of artificial intelligence in media and the search for new business models to ensure the long-term viability of news agencies. The engagement of young readers and the development of new services, such as sports data and PR platforms, were also discussed.
Friday's programme focused on cybersecurity, regulatory changes and the protection of journalists in an era of increasing online attacks. MINDS introduced new working groups dealing with artificial intelligence, young audiences and the Global PR Alliance. These initiatives will encourage innovation and sharing of experience among the member agencies.
At the conference, the Czech News Agency presented the development of the ČTK Connect services, which are becoming an important part of its portfolio.
The conference participants agreed that investments in technology, protecting the credibility of content and seeking new ways to reach audiences and partners were the key to success in a rapidly changing media landscape.
The MINDS International network, founded in 2007, brings together agencies such as The Associated Press, AFP, DPA, PA, AAP, APA and ČTK. Face-to-face meetings of its members are held twice a year, with the tradition having been discontinued in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
