Protext, the PR service of the Czech News Agency (ČTK), has opened a special section called Europe Against COVID-19 in cooperation with the European Parliament Liaison Office in the Czech Republic. The section is published on the Českénoviny.cz website, which has more than two million real users a month, and will also be available via other commercial distribution channels of the national news agency. The EP Liaison Office in Prague will use the section to provide information on the activities of the European Parliament and the entire European Union in solving the impacts of the coronavirus crisis.
"The European Union has been doing a lot of things that may be of help in the current uneasy situation but are little known," said Iva Laňová, EP press officer in Czechia. Protext ČTK is giving space to European institutions not long after it launched a similar commercial section, Firms and Coronavirus, designated for Czech entrepreneurs and companies.
"We are using this unique distribution model to enable our clients to address both B2B and B2C target groups," said Jaroslav Kábele, head of the ČTK’s strategy and development.
At an extraordinary session on March 26, the European Parliament gave the green light to providing EUR37bn from EU funds to support countries hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus pandemic. This investment initiative will allow fast channelling of funds to healthcare systems, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), labour markets and other vulnerable parts of the EU member states’ economies. About CZK30bn are to be available for the Czech Republic.
"To save our countries, we must act together in Europe. We should do more. Today, the watchword for Europe is solidarity. No one will be left alone and no one will act alone," said EP President David Sassoli.
The special section on the fight of European institutions against the impacts of the COVID-19 disease will be available and updated continuously at the address www.ceskenoviny.cz/special/eu-covid/ at least until the end of July.
