Since its inception in the 1920’s, the Czech News Agency’s Photo Archive has collected more than five million photographs. There are currently one and a half million photographs in electronic form, which means that a significant part of the archive has yet to be archived.

A team of editors is working systematically on the conversion of the historical glass plates, negatives and slides into digital form so that the electronic photobank is as complete as possible.
The Czech News Agency has dedicated significant funds to this editorially and technically demanding activity and has used highly qualified employees on this project so that the documentation of history from the establishment of the Republic through to the present is continual and so that the photo archive provides period testimony in the present and the future.
